Meal Preparation Assistance
Supporting Health Through Nutrition
Preparing safe and nutritious meals can become more challenging with age, illness, or disability—but maintaining a healthy diet remains essential for wellbeing, energy, and independence.
Our meal preparation assistance service helps clients plan, prepare, or cook simple, balanced meals in their own home. This support can range from helping you prepare your own meals safely to having a support worker assist with cooking daily meals, snacks, or reheating food. We can also assist with light kitchen clean-up afterward. This service is always tailored to your dietary needs, preferences, and cultural requirements.
Please note: This service focuses on assistance, not full catering.
Meal preparation assistance is specifically funded to provide assistance with basic meal preparation tasks to enable the client to live comfortably and safely within their home. Clients must also be at home for this service to take place as it is an assistive support, not a ‘do-for’ support.
The NSW Food Authority recommends and encourages support workers or food handlers have a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or a Food Handling Certificate/Training if they are preparing, cooking or storing food for a client in their home. Flair For Care requires all food handlers to have a minimum of a food handling certificate to be able to prepare, cook or store food for a client. Flair For Care makes this a requirement for the health and safety of the clients we support.
Food, allergy and cultural safety is paramount to the safety and wellbeing of our clients, therefore we class Meal Preparation as it’s own important support category.
